Breaking News:
The Supreme Court Will Decide Whether Corporations Have Religious
Freedom
Over 42 corporations has file lawsuits again the ACA (Affordable
Care Act) claiming that their religious rights are being violated if they are
required to provide conception insurance to their employees. These companies have
target three forms of conception: The pill, abortion and two forms of IUDs.(Intrauterine Device). The Supreme Court will take up challenges from two Companies.: Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood Specialist. Both Companies Claim that it is against their Religion to provide birth control. The ACLU stated that if corporations are allowed to exempt birth controls from insurance,
they are discriminating against women. Other critics claim that if they are
allowed to exempt birth control, then what about blood transfusions and other
medical procedures. Given the current make-up of the court, there is a good
chance that the Supreme Court will rule in favorite of Hobby Lobby. The four conservatives
on the court: Clarence Thomas, John Roberts, Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia will probably
rule in favor of the company. The four liberals on the court: Ruth Bader
Ginsburg, Sotomayor, Stephen Breyer, and Elena Kagan will probably rule against Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood Specialist. Anthony Kennedy is the
judge to watch because he is considered a swing voter. Anthony Kennedy has voted with the four liberal judges on many cases.
