According to MSNBC, somewhere between 40-70 million people’s debit and credit cards accounts were stolen by internet criminals. Target has over 1800 stores in the US and 124 in Canada. The theft is the second-largest credit card scam in U.S. A friend told me that he learnt today that someone in England used his target card to make a 5,000 purchase. He had to put a freeze on all banking account information.
Annual losses from global credit and debit card fraud are on the rise.
The “Nilson Report” reported that credit card scams reached $11.27 billion, up 11.4 percent from a previous year. Credit card fraud accounts for 6 cents of every $100 spent according to Nilson. If you or your neighbor has shopped at target during the Christmas season, you should keep a watchful eye on all of your banking information. Target said that they will work with everyone who have been victims of this scan. If you would like to read more click the link below.
