President Obama’s deportation relief will allow over 5 million people to come out of the shadows and apply for a temporary work permit. Immigrants must have families in the country and been in the United States 5 years or more. Some Republicans are threatening violent and legal action. Steve King (Republican strategist) said there would probably be no Comprehensive Immigration Reform because the president has poisoned the well. He stated that after the Republicans had won a historic victory, it was a slap in the face for the president to use executive privilege to provide relief for undocumented workers. Well, he fails to mention how they won that victory. They won their victory by spreading fear, voter suppression and racism. What they won was a hollow victory based on lies and deception. If the Republican Party can’t figure out how to broaden their base, they will not be able to win the presidency in 2016. President Obama is not their problem, 11 million undocumented immigrants are.
